CDL Driver B - 27.00 per hour Clackamas, OR
Work for a leading distributor of fresh foods, supplying grocery stores and retailers across the region with quality products. They are seeking a dependable CDL Driver B who can deliver goods safely, support warehouse operations, and uphold exceptional customer service standards.
Job Description This role includes completing daily delivery routes to grocery customers and handling all aspects of loading, unloading, and transporting product using approved equipment. The CDL Driver B performs thorough vehicle inspections, maintains communication with dispatch, and delivers product with accuracy and professionalism. All employees also play an important role in food safety and must report any concerns immediately.
Responsibilities for the Job - Meet with dispatch to receive route and delivery information for the day.
- Complete visual and hands-on inspection of the tractor and trailer, checking oil, water levels, tires, blinkers, leaf springs, horn, headlights, and flashers.
- Load hand truck and pallet jack into the truck and notify dispatch of departure time.
- Drive to customer locations, primarily grocery stores, and back trailer into loading docks.
- Check in with customers, unload pallets using an electric pallet jack, and deliver product to designated areas.
- Down-stack product if requested by the customer.
- Communicate effectively with customers and warehouse order selectors regarding product and delivery needs.
- Maintain knowledge of product line, pricing, delivery times, and promotional details.
- Obtain customer signature, reload pallet jack and empty pallets, and load returns.
- Complete paperwork and return it to dispatch at end of shift.
- Offload pallets, unhook trailer, and park tractor in designated areas.
- Install and remove tire chains when required.
- Notify management immediately if any food safety or quality concerns arise.
Experience Required - Valid CDL.
- Ability to use pallet jacks safely.
- Ability to lift and move 50 pounds regularly.
Skills Required - Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate delivery routes safely and operate a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to work in cold storage environments and refrigerated trailers.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work varied schedules.
- Positive and professional demeanor.
Skills Preferred - Experience in produce distribution or grocery delivery.
- Experience loading, unloading, and breaking down pallets of produce.
Work Schedule - Dispatch times vary between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM.
- Schedule is provided at least one week in advance.
- Split days off.
- Drivers may work Saturdays.
