About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Assistant Controller with a strong background in job costing and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting , ideally from the manufacturing or construction industries. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounting Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career and grow into a Controller role in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Support the Controller in overseeing all accounting operations including general ledger, job cost accounting, and month-end close.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal reporting standards.
- Manage project accounting using percentage-of-completion and job costing methods.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning.
- Drive process improvements in accounting systems, controls, and reporting workflows.
- Lead internal and external audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and support team development.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and operations on cost tracking and revenue recognition.
Ideal Candidate Profile: - Strong background in cost accounting and POC revenue recognition .
- Experience in manufacturing or construction industry environments.
- Career trajectory includes Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant roles, with a desire to move into a Controller position.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to thrive in a high-growth, project-based environment.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Vista by Viewpoint, Sage, or NetSuite preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance standards.
