Fish Culturist 1 (Seasonal) - Tylersville Join to apply for the Fish Culturist 1 (Seasonal) - Tylersville role at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is looking for a Fish Culturist 1 to join our Tylersville State Fish Hatchery. This position gives you the opportunity to assist in the propagation, care, and stocking of fish species to meet fisheries management goals toward enhancement of fishing opportunities for the general public. Description of Work As a Fish Culturist 1, you will learn how to collect and select brood stock while handling the fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury, and mortality. You will also learn how to operate a fish stocking vehicle in a safe and timely manner, load and transport fish, monitor fish, and take appropriate action to deliver the fish in excellent condition. Work involves completing repairs and maintenance to buildings, equipment, and grounds in an effort to maximize efficiency of propagation, care, and stocking. Work Schedule and Additional Information Seasonal, full-time employment. This position is a 7-month seasonal assignment with opportunity for advancement to a full-time position. This position does not receive medical benefits. Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non‑overtime) hours in each calendar year. Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. This position may require some weekend, evening, and holiday work as well as standby time. Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training. Special Requirements: You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License. Employee entering this classification must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License that permits the operation of vehicles of 26,000 lbs. or more prior to completing their probationary period.
