Description:

The Grant Manager is responsible for the integrated oversight of grant fiscal operations and program administration. This role combines in-depth financial expertise with strong program knowledge to support strategic decision-making, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and optimize the use of grant and agency funds. The Grant Manager oversees grant budget development, financial reporting, coordination, and compliance monitoring, acting as a liaison between program teams, finance, and external funders. The ideal candidate would build interdepartmental relationships to maximize understanding of department resources and priorities, have strong writing skills, attention to detail, ability to effectively multi-task, and experience in nonprofit fundraising and grant management.

Essential Functions:

Grant Administration & Program Support

  • Lead and support the full grant lifecycle, from opportunity identification and proposal development to award management, renewal, and close-out.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with grant regulations, agency policies, and funding mandates; provide guidance to departments to ensure alignment.
  • Monitor grant performance and ensure timely, accurate reporting to stakeholders, support strategic decision-making through analysis and evaluation.
  • Maintain centralized records of grant applications, awards, modifications, and financial documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage all external funding streams to ensure strategic use of resources aligned with departmental priorities.

Financial Management & Budgeting

  • Manage grant budgets and forecasts; conduct audits to ensure expenditure aligns with contracts and funding regulations.
  • Prepare and present detailed grant reporting to internal and external partners to inform strategic decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and grant agreements.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Leadership to enhance accounting controls and align grant funding with organizational priorities.
  • Assist in agency-wide initiatives involving grant-funded projects, including resource planning and cross-departmental coordination.
  • Analyze data and prepare research or evaluation reports to support funding decisions or improve program effectiveness.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field required.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in grant administration and financial management (including developing and managing grant budgets) required.
  • Experience within a nonprofit, public sector, or human services organization preferred.
  • Experience with grant writing, research, and proposal development is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with OASAS (Office of Addiction Services and Supports) programs, funding, or compliance is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and foundation grant regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of accounting best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial and programmatic data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred), and skilled in general office software (e.g., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using web-based systems for electronic proposal submissions and grant administration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure (e.g., during audits or grant reporting cycles).

Other Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings with funding partners, or at various work sites.
