Overview Physician (Hospitalist) Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA Joint Base Lewis-McChord, its affiliated clinics, and dental clinic are located at Fort Lewis, Washington, near Tacoma. Madigan AMC is one of three Level Two trauma centers within the U.S. Medical Command.
Tacoma is a progressive city of 200,000 nestled between Seattle and Olympia. It offers attractions of larger metro areas with a hometown feel, including museums, theaters, and outdoor activities around Puget Sound and Mount Rainier. The city boasts excellent schools, universities, parks, and shopping centers.
Responsibilities
Major Duties: The position serves as a Physician (Hospitalist) within a Defense Health Agency Medical Treatment Facility, focusing on the general medical care of hospitalized patients.
1. The physician works under the supervision of the Chief, Department of Medicine, exercising independent judgment in diagnosis and treatment, managing inpatient medical care, ordering tests, and providing consultative services.
2. Acts as a Staff Physician, overseeing trainees and providing education within the Graduate Medical Education Residency program, including interns, residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical students.
3. Conducts chart reviews for quality assurance, patient safety, and risk management, evaluating clinical findings and prescribing treatments.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Must be a US Citizen Must be board eligible/board certified. Degree: MD or DO from an accredited U.S. or Canadian school. Foreign degrees must be certified by ECFMG.
Graduate Training: At least 1 year of supervised clinical experience post-degree, such as an internship or residency.
Licensure: Full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S., D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territories.
