\nKelly is seeking a Plant Controller to work with our client, a successful and growing food manufacturing organization, on a direct hire basis.
\n
\nThe Plant Controller will:\n

\n\t
• Serve as a trusted financial advisor to Plant Management, Operations, and Corporate Finance\n\t
• Translate operational data into meaningful financial insights to support real-time decision making\n\t
• Develop and present actionable reporting and KPI dashboards to plant and executive leadership\n\t
• Drive initiatives to improve EBITDA, cash flow, and working capital performance\n\t
• Lead full lifecycle cost accounting, including establishing and maintaining accurate standard costs\n\t
• Analyze cost variances for labor, materials, overhead, and yield; provide detailed root cause explanations\n\t
• Perform margin analysis and monitor profitability by product line, SKU, customer, or segment\n\t
• Continuously evaluate cost structures and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency\n\t
• Ensure accurate and timely inventory valuation across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods\n\t
• Oversee cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies\n\t
• Analyze material consumption and scrap rates, supporting better planning and procurement decisions\n\t
• Drive continuous improvement in inventory accuracy and turnover metrics\n\t
• Manage all aspects of the plant’s monthly financial close—journal entries, accruals, reconciliations\n\t
• Ensure integrity of plant-level financial statements and alignment with corporate reporting\n\t
• Prepare and deliver detailed variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast/prior period)\n\t
• Support internal and external audit processes with complete and accurate documentation\n\t
• Lead plant-level annual budgeting and monthly/quarterly forecasting processes\n\t
• Track and forecast manufacturing costs, headcount, capex, and operational metrics\n\t
• Support evaluation and financial justification of capital investments (ROI, NPV, payback)\n\t
• Ensure disciplined capex tracking and reporting in line with corporate expectations\n\t
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and GAAP\n\t
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, systems, and reporting\n\t
• Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the plant\n

\nQualifications:\n\n

\n\t
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA/CMA or MBA preferred. \n\t
• 8+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing plant controller or cost accounting leadership role\n\t
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control, and operational finance\n\t
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage 100); proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools\n\t
• Demonstrated ability to lead financial operations, influence non-financial stakeholders, and support strategic initiatives\n\t
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive, hands-on, and problem-solving mindset\n
