Powerline/Lineman Journeyman
Deseret Power is an electrical utility serving Utah and surrounding states. We have an excellent job opportunity for a Powerline/Substation Journeyman at our Bonanza Plant, a 500 MW coal-fired generating station, near Vernal, Utah.
The successful candidate will be required to complete the appropriate training to be able to install, maintain and repair all powerline with system voltages up to 345KV. Methods used to repair transmission line include: barehanding with rope access and hot stick work. You will also assist the Meter/Relay, and Communications departments as needed. Work assignments outside of the substation will include work with explosives for boiler de-slagging during unit outages, powerline inspection, maintenance, and vegetation management. You will be required to comply with all O.S.H.A and other generally accepted safety standards. You will be required to read drawings and data sheets and keep accurate records and documentation. You will be expected to answer emergency call outs during and outside of normal working hours. Travel and out-of- town stay periodically required.
You must be a High School graduate or equivalent. You must have a minimum of 1 year as a Journeyman Lineman and be qualified to climb wood or steel structures in excess of 200 feet. You must have or be able to obtain a valid Utah, class B commercial drivers license with a hazardous endorsement.
