Role description: Arcadis seeks a Principal Waste to Energy Consultant to join our team and support our Resilience team in the Florida Region and our national energy and solid waste communities of practice. The successful candidate will be expected to fulfill a hybrid role to lead, manage, and sell delivery of solid waste related projects within the municipal sector market of the South Florida area and surrounding region, reporting from the Boca Raton, Florida office. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual to actively participate as a key member of our regional and national team to help shape Arcadis impact across this segment of the market sector and enable our clients to develop sustainable and resilient solutions to the challenges faced by the solid waste industry and lead the delivery of several high profile significant capital projects within the South Florida region. In this client facing role, the successful candidate will utilize their specialized expertise and knowledge of solid waste management systems in support of program planning, capital project delivery, operations and maintenance of related collection, transfer, processing and disposal of solid waste materials via a range of technologies, with particular focus on waste-to-energy facilities. You will also have a proven business development track record working as part of an integrated team of professionals aligning to win a growing portfolio of industry-leading projects, as well as a reputation for excellence in client service and management. Role accountabilities: The Principal Waste to Energy Consultant will serve as a project manager or senior team member working with other teams within our Solid Waste, Waste-to-Energy, and Energy Transition practice areas. Additional duties include client/business development and proposal development and interfacing with clients predominantly across the waste-to-energy and solid waste sector in Florida. Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, conferences, etc. Other responsibilities include: Serving as a Project Manager or Lead Technical Expert on waste-to-energy and/or solid waste management planning, procurement, permitting, design, construction, and private contractor operations projects. Perform different roles on various multi-disciplined projects including QA/QC reviewer, technical advisor, design and/or client facing project manager. Provide technical guidance to multi-disciplinary teams on the development of significant solid waste management or waste-to-energy related opportunities and projects. Provide leadership and mentoring to direct or indirect reports. Manage internal project budgets and schedule for client deliverables. Assist client teams in developing technical approaches/solutions during preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations. Lead development and delivery of public meeting presentations and events in support of projects, including municipal commission meetings and regulatory agency hearings or public meetings. Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications 20 years’ experience in the solid waste industry – planning, design, construction, and operations. Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or related field. Professional Engineer License Key Skills/Attributes Project Management or executive management experience with development, operations, and assessment of waste-to-energy projects of various sizes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Preferred Qualifications 25 or moreyears’ experience in waste-to-energy facilities – planning, development, design, construction, and private contract operations Master’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Professional Engineer License in FL or possessing (or ability to obtain) ASME QRO certification preferred` Established professional reputation within the South Florida solid waste market Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
