The Opportunity: Product Photographer

Are you a passionate and detail-oriented photographer with an eye for bringing products to life? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment? Rhode Island Novelty is seeking a  Product Photographer to join our vibrant Creative Department in Fall River, MA.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual, even at an entry-level, to create high-impact selling images for our national print catalog, rapidly evolving website, and engaging social media channels. You'll play a crucial role in showcasing the authenticity, utility, and value of our extensive product line, primarily focusing on toys and gifts.

What You'll Do:

As our Product Photographer, you'll be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of our products across various platforms. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • High-Volume Photography: Execute a high volume of product shots, ensuring each image accurately portrays product details, textures, and finishes in fun, inspiring, and informative ways. This includes capturing multiple angles, group shots, light-up features, and lifestyle imagery (e.g., hand shots).
  • Image Editing & Retouching: Expertly edit, retouch, color correct, and resize product images for optimal use across our website, catalogs, email campaigns, brochures, advertising, and more. This involves meticulous attention to detail to remove dust, scratches, and other imperfections.
  • Workflow Management: Develop and manage daily photography workflow to ensure timely delivery of assets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product designers and the creative team to ensure key product details are captured and align with overall creative vision.
  • Digital Asset Management: Organize and maintain our extensive digital image library with disciplined naming conventions, ensuring efficient access and management of current and past assets.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and solve challenges to execute shoots efficiently, even under tight deadlines and limiting circumstances.
  • Communication: Keep the Catalog Production Specialist informed of project progress and potential challenges.

Who You Are:

  • A Photography Enthusiast: You have a genuine passion for product photography and editing, with a keen eye for detail and color accuracy.
  • Technically Proficient: You are proficient in using a  DSLR camera and  flash photography .
  • Adobe Photoshop Expert: You are fluent in Adobe Photoshop, including cropping, levels adjustments, pen tool usage, and retouching skills.
  • Organized & Efficient: You are extremely organized and accustomed to working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment that requires multitasking. You can efficiently schedule, plan, and manage shoots based on departmental priorities.
  • Collaborative & Positive: You possess excellent people skills and thrive in a highly collaborative team environment. You're upbeat, positive, and willing to take creative direction.
  • Proactive & Solutions-Oriented: You have strong problem-solving skills and are adept at overcoming issues, proposing solutions, and making decisions.
  • Educated: You hold a BFA in Photography or a related creative field.
  • Experienced (a plus): Some product photography experience is required. Experience with toys and gifts, or other consumer products, is a plus. Experience in a high-volume environment (e.g., 10 minutes per shot including setup) is preferred.
  • Portfolio Ready: You have a strong portfolio of relevant work showcasing your product photography skills.

Important Details:

  • Job Title: Product Photographer – High Volume
  • Report to: Catalog Production Specialist
  • Location: This is an  in-studio position at our Fall River, MA location.  Remote work is not available.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand/sit for long periods, walk up and down stairs, and lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Work Schedule: Punctual attendance from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM is essential.
