Job Title: Systems Security Engineer (IAT II, T3 Clearance)
\n Location: Dahlgren, VA (with possible support at NSWCDD detachment sites)
\n Contract Type: Government Contract – RFP Support
\n Security Clearance: T3 (Required)

Position Summary:
\nThe Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is seeking a Systems Security Engineer to provide comprehensive IT security support across classified and unclassified networks. This position requires planning, developing, and communicating organizational security policies, standards, and best practices to protect sensitive information and safeguard computer networks, systems, and data. The Systems Security Engineer will analyze emerging threats, recommend mitigation strategies, and enhance security controls to maintain the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of NSWCDD’s IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  Plan, implement, and maintain organizational IT security policies and procedures.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Conduct vulnerability and risk analyses to identify and mitigate security risks.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Scan, detect, and remediate threats, viruses, and other malicious software.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Support system accreditation, audits, and compliance activities for classified and unclassified networks.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Integrate security solutions with IT operations and development processes in accordance with DevSecOps and ITIL best practices.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Collaborate with IT, engineering, and operations teams to ensure alignment of security controls with mission objectives.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Provide recommendations for security enhancements and improvements across enterprise applications, endpoints, and networks.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Document and communicate security procedures, incidents, and mitigation strategies.

  \n
\n

Required Qualifications:

\n
• \n

  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Minimum of four (4) years of professional IT security experience in DoD or Navy environments.

  \n
\n
• \n

  IAT II certification level.

  \n
\n
• \n

  T3 Clearance (required) – able to obtain and maintain.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Experience with vulnerability and risk analysis, system accreditation, audits, and mitigation strategies.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Familiarity with ITSM frameworks, ITIL®, DESMF, and agile/DevSecOps methodologies.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Strong knowledge of unclassified and classified DoD network operations, including NMCI, SDREN, JWICS, and related systems.

  \n
\n
• \n

  Experience in endpoint management, cybersecurity tools, and secure network protocols.

  \n
\n

Work Environment:

• \n

  Primarily on-site at NSWCDD Dahlgren, VA, with potential travel to detachment sites.

\n
• \n

  Must comply with all DoD and Navy cybersecurity and operational protocols.

\n
