Job Details:

SmartStart Education seeks Trade School Teacher's Aide to work with high school students Monday - Friday from 8am to 2pm at a school near Albany, NY .

The position begins as soon as possible and ends on June 26, 2026.

Salary Range: $96.20 to $107.20 per day

Responsibilities include:

Instructional Support:
  • Assist the Trade School teacher with the preparation and delivery of instructional materials and activities.

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students needing extra help.

  • Supervise students during classroom activities, labs, and off-site projects.

  • Help students operate tools, equipment, and technology used in the Trade School program.

Classroom and Lab Management:
  • Set up and organize classroom and lab equipment and materials.

  • Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained, and stored properly.

  • Support safety practices by monitoring student use of tools and enforcing safety rules.

Administrative and Clerical Support:
  • Assist with grading, record-keeping, and data entry under the direction of the teacher.

  • Prepare instructional materials such as handouts, charts, and visual aids.

Student Engagement and Supervision:
  • Encourage student participation and help maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Monitor student behavior and report concerns to the Trade School teacher or administration.

Support students in developing soft skills, such as teamwork, time management, and workplace etiquette.

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory. ***Please note that applications with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 6 months in working within a school environment or another learning and development setting. Experience in a classroom or technical/vocational setting highly preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
  • Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
  • Familiarity with tools, equipment, and safety protocols in the assigned Trade School field.

  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).

  • Ability to manage time, multitask, and adapt to dynamic classroom environments.

  • Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
  • Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
  • Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
