Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Mother-Baby role in an acute care setting requiring a CA RN license and advanced perinatal certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in an acute Family Birthing Center with Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and LDRP beds
• Unit includes OBED, LDRP, overflow postpartum beds, and an OR suite for C-sections
• Handles 70–80 births per month and frequent NST antepartum testing cases
• Typical ratios are 1:2 for labor, 1:1 at delivery, and 1:4 for mother/baby couplets
• NICU available with 2 beds for newborn stabilization; preterm patients under 35 weeks are transferred to higher level care
• Shift is 12-hour nights with every other weekend and holiday rotation with core staff
• RNs may be required to float to other local facilities as needed
• May be placed on-call or standby for scheduled shifts with a 30-minute callback expectation
• Cerner EMR is used, and experience is preferred
• RNs are responsible for labor support, delivery, postpartum couplet care, and assisting with C-sections
• No CNAs; an OB Tech and charge nurse or nurse shift manager are available every shift
• OB physician is on-site 24/7; anesthesia is on call and present as needed for epidurals
• Respiratory therapists attend all deliveries and handle any required respiratory support
• Must be able to manage emergency situations and titrate medications as needed
• Will participate in a team environment focused on safe, family-centered perinatal care
• Sterile technique testing (Foley/central line) and Relias Dysrhythmia exam must be passed during orientation

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in LDRP or solid L&D experience with OR circulating
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN/EFM) certifications
• Experience with titrating pitocin and insulin drips required
• Must be comfortable with NRP at delivery due to absence of in-house pediatric coverage
• Two professional references: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one reference (peer or supervisor) from within the last 3 years
• Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
• Must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility in the last 12 months
