Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center (DVSAC)

DVSAC is seeking two dedicated Full-Time Victim Advocates to join our team — one with a primary focus on adults and one with a primary focus on children. While each role is centered on a specific population, advocates may work with both adults and children based on the needs of clients and DVSAC. These roles are essential in helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault navigate complex systems and find the support they need.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Role

This job description outlines the critical responsibilities and requirements of the position. Candidates must be prepared for a dynamic and emotionally demanding role , supporting some of the most vulnerable individuals in the community . As a Victim Advocate, you will offer immediate crisis response and long-term support to clients, helping them build safety, resilience, and hope. Whether assisting with safety planning, providing court support, or collaborating with other agencies, you’ll play a vital role in each client's healing journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct crisis intervention and support.
  • Assist clients in developing safety plans and accessing resources.
  • Cover the crisis line, including a rotation of after-hours calls.
  • Accompany clients to court and to meetings with prosecutors or law enforcement.
  • Assist with civil protection orders and court advocacy.
  • Conduct ongoing follow-up based on the client's needs and the case's intensity.
  • Collaborate with CPS, shelters, counselors, hospitals, and other partners.

· Participate in outreach efforts and represent DVSAC in community events, fundraisers, and meetings.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in advocacy, nonprofit, or related experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred
  • Certification (or ability to obtain): Crimes Against Women & Children Training, Forensic Interviewing, MDT Collaboration
  • Basic to advanced computer skills and comfort with translation tools
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
  • Willingness to transport clients when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally

Work Environment

  • Includes in-office and field work (courts, hospitals, shelters, etc.).
  • May require walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods
  • Flexible schedule with potential on-call responsibilities
