YOUTH DIRECTOR AND CHILDREN DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary:  The Youth Director promotes and leads the spiritual formation of students in grades 6-12.  The Children’s Ministry Director promotes and leads the spiritual formation of children, birth through 5th grade, and their families.

Reports to:  Kelsey Creek Church’s Lead Pastor and Administrative Team

FLSA Status:  This position could be full-time for both roles or two part-time roles (20 hours each)

YOUTH DIRECTOR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and lead activities for youth, in collaboration with the adult volunteer team, that promote spiritual learning, facilitate community growth, and deepen relationships
  • Foster intergenerational relationships and mentoring of the youth in the church (both within and outside of the youth group meetings and activities): 
    • Develop personal relationships with each youth of the church
    • Recruit adults from the church to connect with specific youth for informal mentoring
  • Facilitate identifying the gifts and passions of the youth and seek opportunities to use them in service of the church and community
  • Participate in tutoring program at Kelsey Creek Church

  • General understanding and appreciation of the Reformed tradition of the Christian faith
  • A gracious team player who is committed to the mission, vision, and values of Kelsey Creek Church
  • Ability to make a positive contribution to the staff culture that aspires to hospitality, service, teamwork, integrity, and excellence
  • Ability to understand and relate to students and to pursue creative approaches for all aspects of Youth Ministry
  • Be/become a regular attendee and member of Kelsey Creek Church
  • Previous experience with church ministry leadership and/or Youth Ministry, preferred
  • College degree (especially in education, church ministries), preferred
  • Basic computer skills required, proficiency in various technological platforms (Google applications, Microsoft Office, church management platforms), preferred

 

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS

 

Work schedule:            Typical work schedule includes Sundays and 2-3 days in the office Monday

through Friday, approximately 20 hours/week.

Working Conditions:   Due to seasonal activity, job duties may at times require additional hours

and availability outside normal working hours. May require flexibility to adjust work schedule from time to time to work early or later than regular schedule.

Compensation:             $22.00-$28.00 per hour

Paid-time off:                60 hours per year and sick-leave

 

 

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

●        Create and oversee ministries that lead children into a growing relationship with Jesus.

o   Create, plan, and oversee Sunday worship and learning experiences for children

o   Implement and customize age-appropriate curriculum that engages children of diverse backgrounds and nurtures faith in Jesus

o   Create and maintain a vibrant discipleship environment by managing Children’s Ministry areas that are safe, clean, and appealing to children and families

●        Shepherd and equip volunteer teams for Children’s Ministry

o   Recruit, equip, and empower volunteers of various backgrounds and life stages to serve children and families

o   Lead, empower, and collaborate with the Family Ministry Advisory Team to develop a vision for Children’s Ministry that aligns with KCC’s overall mission, vision, and values and that promotes and nurtures a growing faith in children

●        Equip families with resources and education to help them become actively and intentionally involved in the spiritual formation of their families

●        Plan the annual Children’s Ministry budget and maintain financial records in coordination with the KCC Treasurer and Church Administrator

●        Promote compliance with the Safe Church policies in children’s ministry activities

●        Perform other duties as a member of the KCC staff, or as the situation arises/assigned by supervisor(s)
