Job Description

Our client is a New York based financial group. They are seeking a Staff Accountant who would work out of their headquarter office located in the city.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$65k - $85k

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant would be taking part in the month-end close process, reconciliations, financial statements, and applying GAAP to ensure that every transaction within the organization complies with ethical and operational policies and procedures. The client is looking for someone who can assist the accounting team with the day to day and who has experience in public accounting.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

• Maintaining a general ledger.
• Prepare and review financial documents, reports, statements.
• Processing monthly accruals, expenses, fixed asset depreciation and recording or editing journal entries.
• Knowledge of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Strong communication when responding to ad-hoc requests from management or peers.

Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:

• 3 - 5 years of experience working in Accounting/Previous Staff Accountant experience.
• Big 4 experience is a plus.
• Experience working with ERP/general ledger systems is preferred (NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, Oracle, etc.).
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
