Background on Southbridge Public Schools:

Southbridge Public Schools serve approximately 2,200 students in six schools. The district is presently undergoing extensive turnaround at all levels, with the assistance of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This creates unique opportunities for teachers and students. One example is a recently announced, long-term partnership with the University of Connecticut to develop Southbridge Schools to be a national demonstration site for successful implementation of PBIS strategies. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare and process payroll for all staff, ensuring timely receipt and accuracy of timesheets and documentation.
• Verify transactions for accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation.
• Maintain accurate personnel records, including time off, absences, and leave.
• Collaborate with internal departments and town offices on payroll, benefits, and financial operations.
• Prepare payroll warrants and support documentation for processing and reporting.
• Respond to payroll-related inquiries and generate reports for management and billing purposes.
• Process invoices, reimbursements, requisitions, and purchase orders accurately and on time.
• Track recurring expenses, including utilities, and support Medicaid reporting.
• Generate and manage invoices, financial reports, and account reconciliations.
• Process incoming payments and monitor accounts for discrepancies or delays.
• Respond to vendor and staff inquiries and support school and business office operations.
• Place orders and assist with additional duties and special projects as needed.

Required Skills And Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, and applicable employment laws.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong time management and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with financial/accounting software preferred.
• Skilled in accurate data entry and computation.

Education and Experience:

Required:

• High school diploma.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll, HR, or benefits administration.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in a school or municipal setting.
• Experience with governmental fund accounting software.

Job Qualifications:

• U.S. citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required.

Reporting Relationships:

• Reports to the finance department.

Work Schedule:

• 8-hour workday (schedule set by supervisor).
• 40-hour workweek, year-round.
• Position includes holidays and other benefits per employee benefit sheet.
• Non-union position.
