Heavy Duty Mechanics - Second Shift at BURNCO LLC summary:

Heavy Duty Mechanics on second shift are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy-duty equipment such as Ready-Mix trucks, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Duties include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, performing welding and fabrication, and conducting preventative maintenance while adhering to safety protocols. The role requires teamwork, strong mechanical skills, and occasional travel to different company sites within Colorado.

BURNCO is looking to add more skilled Heavy Duty Equipment - Shop Mechanics to our team in a number of our locations across Colorado . Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the successful candidates will be responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of our Ready-Mix trucks while keeping our shop facilities safe and clean. Rate or Range: $28 and up for experienced mechanics

What You Will Be Doing

EXPECTED RESULTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems following specifications, and manuals
  • Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunctions
  • Ability to diagnose and trouble shoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Communicates timely and effectively with shop leadership to keep them informed about major problems
  • May operate mobile equipment including service truck to retrieve down truck assets
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance, record and inspection on service vehicle to include fueling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, checking and adding fluids as needed.
  • Services pumps/motors as needed
  • Perform welding, repair and fabrication
  • Purchase parts for repairs as needed
  • May make service calls at other BURNCO plants or job sites as needed
  • Assist in training co-workers as needed
  • Performs general clean-up of work area
  • Required to follow all BURNCO policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The primary areas of responsibility include:

  • Proper Preventative Maintenance
  • Timely Response to Maintenance Service Requests

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Good working knowledge of mechanics as related to truck and general maintenance
  • Ability to use power tools, welders, cutting torches/chains and various safety devices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper mechanic/maintenance procedures such as lockout/tag outs and special work permits
  • Must be proficient with computer and program systems
    • Experience with Allison transmissions, Davie 4 and ESA software a plus
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to pass MVR (clean driving record)
  • Commercial Driver’s License a plus
  • Provide own personal tools up to ¾
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma preferred
  • 1 year of Truck Mechanic experience required
    • Experience with concrete mixers and aggregate haul trucks preferred

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

  • May be required to travel to various company facilities to perform maintenance activities

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly outside and exposed to various weather conditions including hot/cold temperatures and rain/snow conditions.
  • Employee constantly uses eye/hand coordination, near vision and hearing.
  • Employee frequently stands, walks, climbs, kneels, bends, reaches, lifts up to 50 lbs, carries up to 50 lbs, pushes, pulls and utilizes manual dexterity, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, far vision and color discernment
  • Employee is exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smokes, gasses, fumes and aggregate materials.
  • Required PPE includes safety shoes above ankles, safety vests, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hats. Additional PPE requirements needed for special jobs such as welding, repairing, etc.
