Responsibilities The Field Network Support Specialist is responsible for traveling to and between jobsites to deploy, troubleshoot, test, and document IT networks. This role serves as a hands-on extension of the Network Administration team, ensuring that the jobsite technology infrastructure is deployed efficiently, maintained effectively, and documented accurately. Essential Functions Travel regularly to jobsites (approx. 75% travel across Indiana; occasional travel to NC, WI, OH, IL, and other locations). Install, configure, and support networking hardware/software on jobsites. Build and maintain structured cabling/network cabinets to company standards. Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, latency, and performance issues. Conduct site surveys and coordinate with ISPs to ensure reliable service. Document configurations, maintain inventories, and support end users. Equipment And Technical Requirements Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Wi-Fi). Familiarity with networking hardware, software, and protocols. Experience with cabling, racking, and physical network infrastructure. Understanding of ISP builds and service offerings. Preferred: Cisco Meraki network equipment knowledge. Education And Experience Requirements 2–4 years of experience in IT/network support, field service, or related role. Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to work independently in the field. Excellent communication skills to interact with jobsite personnel and project stakeholders. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and willingness to travel frequently. Preferred certifications: CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent field experience. Key Attributes Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills. Ability to adapt to dynamic, hands-on work environments. Reliable in following direction while being proactive in reporting progress/issues. Effective communicator and team player.
