The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the aluminum extrusion facility, ensuring production efficiency, quality standards, employee safety, and cost-effectiveness. This leader will manage production, maintenance, quality, and logistics teams while driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the daily operations of the aluminum extrusion plant, including billet preparation, extrusion presses, fabrication, finishing, and shipping.
- Ensure all production schedules are met while maintaining product quality and delivery commitments.
- Optimize equipment utilization, reduce downtime, and drive throughput improvements.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, operators, and support staff to achieve performance goals.
- Foster a safety-first culture and promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
- Implement training programs for extrusion operations, die changes, and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Oversee implementation of safety programs, audits, and corrective actions.
- Maintain and improve quality systems to meet ISO and customer specifications.
- Continuous Improvement & Cost Control:
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Analyze production data to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Manage budgets, track KPIs, and report on plant performance metrics.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for extrusion presses, handling systems, and ancillary equipment.
- Work with engineering to plan capital improvements and technology upgrades.
- Customer & Supply Chain Collaboration:
- Coordinate with sales, scheduling, and logistics to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time.
- Manage raw material inventory (billets, dies, packaging) and supplier relationships.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
8+ years in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in aluminum extrusion operations (press operations, die management, or finishing).
- Strong knowledge of extrusion press operations, anodizing, powder coating, and fabrication preferred.
- Proven track record of leading production teams and achieving operational KPIs.
- Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
